I cant recommend Joyces house strongly enough. She is a wonderful host/housemate and will go out of her way to help you whenever she can. The house itself is a great place in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of friendly neighbors. The room Joyce rents out has a comfy bed and everything else you could need. And she has a very cute dog named Tracker who was always nice to come home to.

If you need a great place close to lots of restaurants and grocery stores and anything else you need along with a warm and welcoming host, this is the place!

Thanks for everything, Joyce!

I am so happy that I found Joyce and her beautiful house in DC. From day one Joyce made me feel like a part of family. Her house is warm and inviting, and I was able to have my own space. Joyce and her dog Tracker made my experience in DC so amazing. I was in DC for three months and Joyce was welcoming to my boyfriend when he came to visit and my friends who came over for dinner. Joyce helped me navigate DC and all of its craziness. When I got home from work we would talk, but she was always respectful when I wanted time to myself after a long day. Joyces house is a great place to sublet. The closet is very big and the room offers lots of storage. The house is only a 10 minute walk from the metro and lots of bus lines. I walked to many Nationals games in the Navy Yard and lots of fun nights out on 8th street. I was only a 10-15 minute walk from multiple grocery stores and a fantastic dry cleaner. This house is in a perfect location and in a great neighborhood, I always felt safe. I would absolutely recommend Joyce and Tracker for a place to stay in DC!

I feel very lucky to have found Joyce and her home for my 3-month stay in DC. Joyce is wonderful: she was very welcoming and helped me get oriented to the area. Echoing what the other reviews have said - the house really is in a prime location, only a couple blocks away from Eastern Market, and therefore the Eastern Market Metro Station, but also walking distance from the grocery store(s) and the 8th Street shops and restaurants. Also only 10 blocks from the Capitol Building, it allows for easy access to the National Mall.
At home, we could spend a lot of time together talking, but she was also respectful of me wanting time to myself. The space in the house allows for this as well; the 3 levels are comfortable and are as shown in the pictures.
The rented room also has a great closet that easily fit my things, and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking.
I highly recommend Joyces place for a stay in DC. I had a great time getting to know Joyce, bonding with my little buddy Tracker (her Yorkshire terrier), and feeling safe and at home in the neighborhood.

Joyce is a great landlady. She is very friendly and warm. She has lived in DC for many years and knows the area well. I stayed with her for 5.5 months while I had a fellowship in DC.

The room is very comfortable and clean. Quiet place. Washer and dryer in the basement. Wifi. It was perfect.

The house is in a great location, near the Eastern Market metro. It is close to food stores, restaurants, pharmacy, post office, etc.

A beautiful and safe place to live, Joyce is a wonderful person who will welcome you into her home, which makes for the perfect space to rent! It is a wonderful location and home, within walking distance to multiple metro access points and many local attractions! A MUST if you are looking for a space to rent where you want to feel safe, welcome, and right at home!

Joyce is an excellent landlady. She is a charming and a person you can trust.
Her house is spacious, beautiful and cozy, and where you feel like at home, very independent and comfortable spaces.
The house is located in the historic neighborhood Capitol Hill, just three blocks from the Market East Metro Station.
The neighborhood have a plenty shops and stores that can do easy the daily routine ... And on weekends you can enjoy the Capitol Hill Flea Market, full of souvenirs, exotic food and music.
Really it was a excellent experience and always I miss my days in DC.

I have the pleasure to stay in Joyces house during my internship in DC, I stayed four months and was like stayed in home. The house is in the best neighborhood of DC, near de Capitol and the mall (where are all the museums), the Eastern Market (nice market and the best flea market on weekends), the 8th street where you could find nice restaurants, coffee shops and shops.
The room is clean, have the enough space for living, good light and is very nice. Also the hole house is a nice place, you have a big backyard to enjoy it.
Joyce, the landlord is such a nice woman, she is friendly and help you with everything you need. Her dog "tracker" is so cute and funny.
I highly recommend this place for stay in DC. If you miss your home, you find one here.

I had a great experience staying at this lovely townhouse right in the middle of Capitol Hill, convenient to Eastern Market, local parks, and public transportation. Both the room and shared spaces were very clean and well-kept, and the room was a good size. The landlord was so nice and welcoming, making sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed to be at home. She gave me my space when I needed it, but was so friendly and willing to chat as well. I cant recommend this place enough. Its a great place to land for awhile in DC while looking for your next step or during a time of transition.

I stayed at Joyces house during a short term job I had in DC last year, and I had a wonderful time living with her, Tracker (her cute little Yorkshire) and the beautiful, surrounding Capitol Hill neighborhood. I spent the six months of my stay just like in home. Joyces house is cozy and big enough to give each of its inhabitants a lot of space (if the weather was good I used to grill a lot in the backyard..which is a great place to stay during summer-fall) and Joyce always maintain it very neat and tidy.
Joyce is a charm. A very jovial, sociable person who lives life with optimism and good humor. Also being steps from Eastern Market, the Capitol and the Mall is a real treat highly recommended if it is (like mine), ones first time spending so much time in DC.
The house is three blocks away from Eastern Market Metro station, which along with a lot of buses that have its stop right there, makes it totally connected with every interesting place of Washington.
In sum, I rate my experience living in Joyces house as one of my greatest experiences of my life in DC.
