Im looking to sublet my apartment for the summer semester because I will be graduating, getting responsible, and moving away from Houston. I love my apartment, but I have absolutely no desire to pay for an apartment that Im not using from May onwards. My room consists of a private bedroom, bathroom, and walk-in closet. The rest of the apartment includes a shared living area, large flatscreen TV, kitchen, utility room, and restroom.

Here are some quick pros and cons about the room and the apartment complex (Gateway on Cullen).

Cons: There is a nearby train that you can hear at all hours of the day or night. My roommates and I have gotten used to it (to the point that I think Ill actually miss it when I leave) but it is jarring for the first few nights. Parking costs an additional $10-$35 per month depending on whether you chose a reserved space or not, and there is no option for free parking. However, the parking situation has gotten much better in the past year, and now you should always be able to find a free parking place. Ive lived in my room for a year and a half now, and I saw a mouse once. My roommates have occasionally seen mice too. Luckily, the apartment management is proactive about the issue and sent exterminators to spray in our apartment the day after I reported my mouse sighting.

Pros: The location is absolutely fantastic! I can get virtually anywhere in or near downtown Houston in about fifteen minutes tops. My university is about fifteen minutes away in the Montrose area, but UH is literally across IH-45 from the building and it is close enough to walk or bike there. The apartment complex also runs a free shuttle to UH and TSU that leaves from the complex parking lot. My four roommates are also wonderful! Theyre college students as well and theyre friendly, quiet, and clean. The apartment is very spacious, and there is more than adequate storage. The bath tub is great, and I have the largest closet that Ive ever had in my life there. All of the kitchen appliances are less than two years old and working great.

There would be no deposit for you (it was $500 for me) because youd be taking over my lease. The length of the lease would probably have to be negotiated by the front office.
