The "Borgo Acquaiura" is a medieval retreat immersed in the countryside and surrounded by lush vegetation and ancient forests with a great view of the hills and valleys around Spoleto city.
It has been built around the year 1000 d.C. along the Flaminia road, which departs from Rome toward the North of Italy. The Borgo is 750 meters above sea level, for many centuries it has been a refreshment place for troops and messengers sent from the Pope along the route towards the North of Italy and Rome.
The Borgo includes few houses and a landmark built in honour of San Michele Arcangelo in the renaissance age. The Borgo is about 120 kms far from Rome, 200 kms from Florence and 7 kms only from Spoleto, a medieval town famous around the world for its art, cultural events and fabulous landscape. The Borgo is the ideal starting point for seightseeings in central Italy and an unforgettable place where to enjoy autenthic relaxation and true hospitality. Recently the Borgo has been fully and luxuriously restored to provide a chic finish within a heritage setting. Rates are per week for up to 5 guests and include: water, electricity, gas, final cleaning, wood for the fireplace, bed linens, bath towels ( weekly change), amenities as described on the web site.
