How to prepare to share a rental with a new Roommate
Moving in and sharing a room to rent can always be a complicated process and it is important to be well prepared before entering this type of rooming situation. Before moving in, make sure you talk with your roommate about what is being brought to the rental. Space is usually limited and it is important to not bring too much stuff or a duplicate of appliances. Negotiate with them about who is possibly bringing a TV, a refrigerator, microwave and other household appliances. Talk with your roommate about how the rent, utilities (water and electric) and possible cable and internet will be split amongst the roommates. Usually it is divided equally amongst the roommates. Now once you move in, it?s important to get to know each other. Try to have fun while introducing yourselves and to be very open with each other as this may be a new experience for all of you. It is important to be prepared to adjust to the new surroundings. All roommates should try and get to know each other as you never know that your newest roommate could be your next best friend. Share with us your experiences with a new Roommate!

roommate lifestyle compatibility
A recent article on the AJC Homefinder website talked about how important roommate lifestyle compatibility was when choosing a roommate. Its important to know if your new roommates life style works with yours. If you are not an early riser but your roommate wakes up at 5 AM every day for work, that sort of difference in lifestyle could cause an issue.

Great 1st year experience with a Roommate
My first year experience sharing an apartment with a roommate turned out to be one of the best experiences of my college career. I was little hesitant at first sharing a room with somebody that was a complete stranger. It was good that we talked through email, text messages and social media to discuss our interests. We also talked about who was going to bring certain appliances to the rental and how we were going to share utilities. This made the whole process much easier when moving in. When we finally met, we had many opportunities to know each other. By being very open with each other, I got to know her really well and to this day we are still great friends!
