The Chalet is located approximately in the middle between the Riederalp and the Bettmeralp on 1900 meters above sea level. With good weather conditions there is a spectacular view on skyline of the Alps – including the Matterhorn.
In the Chalet there is place for a maximum of 9 people.
- On the lower level, there are 3 small rooms of which one contains a single bed and the others each 2 beds. There is also a bathroom.
- The middle level is the living space with a kitchen and dining area. Next to the main entrance, a small bathroom with a shower is also on this level. A balcony is built around the house towards the South and West, which is perfect for sun-aficionados.
- The roof has been constructed to host two more rooms, each of them containing a double bed. One of those rooms is however in a kind of ‘walk-through‘ situation between the stairs and the other room. The upper floor is quite low, nothing for very tall people.
The furniture and equipment is mostly simple but quite comprehensive – with dish washer, washing machine & dryer, TV, stereo, games, internet, baby/toddler bed, and children’s chair. A private fitness program is kind of built into the design – with 47 steps to climb in order to get into the main entrance – in addition to the 20 minutes of walk from the gondola station. We advise to travel light and mobile, or to order a taxi if you have more luggage (for about CHF 55-65).
The chalet can be reached directly from the slopes in winter, the walk to the next lift is about 10 minutes (ski-in-walk-out). But it is also possible to order a shuttle service against a small fee.
Riederalp is car free. You can get there easily and entirely by public transport. For example, it takes only 3 hours from the Basel train station to the gondola station Riederalp Mitte via Brig and Mörel. The gondola runs until late in the evening (last ride around 23:00). By car you can drive into the car parking in Mörel and take the gondola from there to Riederalp Mitte.
