Myrtle Beach was lies in northern coast of South Carolina; it was expanded from the North Carolina border down to Georgetown. The city was also called as Grand Strand. The city has 60 miles of beaches. The Myrtle Beach is one of the major tourist places in United States. This area also has number of entertainment attractions. The name of "Myrtle Beach" is coming from the wax myrtle, it is an abundant local shrub. This name was selected from a name-the-town contest in 1900.

      Myrtle Beach History
The first European settlers arrived to this coast area in 18th Century. They were producing indigo and tobacco crops at coast's soil, but their crop yields were low quality because the soil was sandy. The Withers family and few of settlers were settled in the Myrtle Beach area. A strong hurricane destroys the house of Withers and others in 1822, and then they were decided to leave their plots. The Collins Company of Conway was buying their lands in 1881. A railroad was built in between Conway and Myrtle Beach and started from May, 1900. The Lumber and railroad company employers were enjoyed their weekends in this beach and they becoming first tourists of Grand Stand. The name of Myrtle Beach comes from wax myrtle; this name was selected from a name-the-town contest in 1900. The Myrtle Beach Airport was built in 1937, but the United States Army Air Corps were handover this for military base. After that the military base was closed in 1993 and it was converted into Myrtle Beach International Airport.
