      San Marino Country Information
San Marino is a country placed on the eastern side of the Apennine Mountains. It is also called as Most Serene Republic of San Marino. It is a landlocked enclave and it is surrounded by Italy. San Marino is the smallest population country of all the members of the Council of Europe. One of the European nations along with Liechtenstein, the Vatican, Monaco, Andorra, and Malta. San Marino is the oldest remaining sovereign state and constitutional republic in the world; it is the continuation of the monastic community founded on 3 September 301, by stonecutter Marinas of Rab. The austere La Rocco, also known as the Guaita, or First Tower, is the oldest of the three defensive towers that oversee the city. Dating back to the 11th century, it was given a few licks and spits in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure was scrapped straight out of the stone surface without recourse to foundations, and rapidly pressed into service as a guard tower and protection post. The Palazzo Public sits on the site of the old Domus Communes Magna, or Large Communal House. The Museum itself was opened in 1966 and it has a fabulous collection of paintings ? both panel and canvas. It has two small halls that have on display paintings and sculptures by Emilio Ambon. The biggest event in San Marino is the Grand Prix. Thousands of people come here for the event and at this time the atmosphere is pumped with adrenalin. This Grand Prix is definitely one of the toughest races of the season and every year many drivers fail to finish the race. The Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation is an organization of recreation qualified from cities, counties, special districts, school districts, and industry. The Three Towers of San Marino are located on the three peaks of Monte Titano in the capital. The three towers are: Guaita, the oldest of the three; the thirteenth-century Cesta, located on the highest of Monte Titano's summits; and the fourteenth-century Montale, on the smallest of Monte Titano's summits, still privately owned. Basketball and volleyball are also popular. The three sports have their own federations, the San Marino Football Federation, the San Marino Basketball Federation and the San Marino Volleyball Federation. The latter is known for adopting the Esperanto language as language for teaching and for scientific publications. Education system in San Marino starts at the age of 6 and continues at the age of 14. Primary education consists of five years and the secondary education consists of three years. It can be taken as state or non-state schooling. San Marinese preschools accept all children between the ages of three and six. Primary education has compulsory attendance at the age of 6 to 11. Lower secondary education is compulsory for children between the ages of 11 and 14. After completing lower secondary education, students may leave school or continue for another three years in upper secondary education after which they can go onto higher education.       San Marino Country History
According to tradition, Saint Marinus left the island of Rab in present-day Croatia with his lifelong friend Leo, and went to the city of Rimini as a mason. After the Diocletian Persecution following his Christian sermons, he built a small church and founded in the city and state of San Marino. The official date of foundation of the Republic is 3 September 301. By the mid-5th century, an association was formed; because of its relatively unavailable location and its poverty, it has succeeded, with a few brief interruptions, in maintaining its independence. The advance of Napoleon's army in 1797 is granted a brief threat to the independence of San Marino, but the country was spared its liberty thanks to one of its minister, Antonio Onofri, who managed to gain the respect and friendship of Napoleon. During the later phase of the Italian unification process in the 19th century, San Marino served as a refuge for many people bother because of their support for coalition. The government of San Marino made United States President Abraham Lincoln an honorary citizen. When Italy declared war on Austria-Hungary on 23 May 1915, During World War I. The system of San Marino Government runs on Unitary Multi-party Republic. The San Marino Government implementation of the executive power and the legislative power. San Marino's economy was mostly depending upon the manufacturing industries and agriculture.
