Westchester Information
Westchester is one of the counties in State of New York. It has 949,113 populations in 2010 estimation of United States. It was named subsequently the city of Chester in England, and the county seat is White Plains. The county's total area is 500 sq mi. It is situated in New York City and Long Island Sound to its south, Putnam County on the north, Connecticut on the east, Rockland County on the west. The county's borders, the topography is largely rolling hills, intersected by the Croton, Bronx and Saw Mill rivers. It has engaged much of its rural character, while assuming the urban and residential lifestyles dictated by its proximity to New York City.

The Region of Westchester was organized on November 1, 1683. While parts have been occupied from its territory by New York City, it still has an area of 448 square miles, with the Hudson as the west border and Connecticut and Long Island Sound neighboring the east and south. The region was once the home of the Mohegan Indians, who engaged the land in great numbers. The region's lakes and reservoirs thrive, and to the southeast are the green hills and shores of the sound, with their deep indentations and lovely islands. Number of residences, from the bungalow to the palace of the rich, is dispersed all through the county. Each variety of estate, from the small farm to the surrounded parks of the millionaire may be seen, and the "estates of the public" are the supreme and largest of them all. Through the 20th century, the mainly rural character of Westchester would harvest to the residential county known today. When the region which is now the town of Westchester was accepted from the Indians on October, 1642, it was recognized as Vredeland. Currently the region it is one of the richest counties in the country, home to many of New York City's most required suburban communities.

Westchester Government
The Westchester is providing by Interstate 87 through the state of New York Interstate 95, Interstate 287 and Interstate 684. The county airport was intended as an Army Air Force base to be used in the defense of New York City during World War II. The region has Westchester County Airport with a small Air National Guard depending occupying the north-east corner if the airport. The region has Metro-North Railroad. It is managed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and bus services are managed by the Westchester County Department of Transportation. There are offers for a cross-county rail line to connect all three lines and run easier access to Stamford, Connecticut.

Westchester Geography
Westchester is one of region of New York State. It is situated at the southeastern tip of New York State. The region parts its northern boundary with Putnam County and its southern boundary with New York City, on the west side by the Hudson River and on the east side by Long Island Sound and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The region is separated into six primary drainage basins or watersheds.
