Essex County Information

Essex County is a county of New Jersey in the northeastern part of the United States. Essex County Bergen, Monmouth and Middlesex, as well as one of New Jersey's four original counties and it were established in 1682.       Essex County Education
Essex County colleges and universities are presently five institutions of the public and the private. The public institutions are Essex County College located at Newark, Montclair State University located in Montclair, New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, Rutgers-Newark situated in Newark, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at Newark. Private education institutions are Berkeley College located in Newark, Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, Caldwell College in Caldwell, Seton Hall University in South Orange, Seton Hall University School of Law at Newark and Upsala College is situated in East Orange (Defunct).

      Essex County History
The Essex County history was established 30 Connecticut families settlement on the banks of the Passaic River in Newark, opened in 1666. The county of Essex was founded in 1682, Bergen, Monmouth and Middlesex counties in New Jersey, one of the four original counties. Essex County on March 7, 1683, was established in East Jersey. Essex County is English named in honor of England's historic empires. Parts of Essex in 1741, have been transferred to Somerset County. In 1837, Passaic, Essex and Bergen were formed from parts of the district. In 1857, was created from parts of Union County Essex County Courthouse.

      Essex County Government
Executive is as well as all county business done by the board of chosen Freeholders. Nine members are elected to serve for both.
