The Kanto region is a geophysical area of Honshu .The Kanto was one of the largest island of Japan. The term Kanto means 'east of the barrier'. The population of Kanto in 2010 was 42, 60,000 by the Japan Statistics Bureau. Kanto area is 12,518.94 sq mi. The Kanto placed on the Pacific coast in central Honshu. Kanto people on the other hand are observed as more cultured, reserved and formal, in protection with Tokyo's history and modern status as the nation's largest and capital metropolis. The Kanto region has seven prefectures on the Kanto Plain they are Ibaraki, Tokyo, Tochigi, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama. The rest of Kanto land has mountains and hills. Kanto have largest universities, largest industrial zone, cultural institutions and having grate population. Kanto was military seat of power in the historic times. Kanto has great culture and entertainment. The Kanto is a universal variety of modern and traditional arts. Kanto have most popular tourist destinations they are Asakusa and Ginza. Kanto main crop is rice. The Kanto region is highly developed industrialized and urbanized part of Japan. The Kanto region and its surrounding peoples are having standard Japanese culture.

Kanto History
In Kamakura period the heartland of feudal power and in the Edo period also Kanto became the center of modern development. The Greater Tokyo Area and Tokyo-Yokohama are metropolitan areas. Kanto has not only Japan's government, it also having group of universities, big industrial zone, cultural institutions and rich population. The growing crop in the Kanto was rice. The Kanto around Yokohama and Tokyo has been landscaped to develop garden produce for the metropolitan market. In Taisho period watershed moment of Japan's modern history. In 1923 the Great Kanto earthquake was happened. During the earthquake and World War I Japan was still awareness from the economic recession. North Kanto regions are Tochigi, Ibaraki and Gunma Prefectures. South Kanto regions are Tokyo Metropolis, Saitama, Kanagawa and Chiba Prefectures. East Kanto regions are Tochigi, Chiba and Ibaraki Prefectures. West Kanto regions are Gunma, Saitama, Tokyo, and Kanagawa Prefectures. Based on the economics and geography some times divide the boundaries, Inland Kanto and Coastal Kanto. Inland Kanto regions are Saitama, Tochigi and Gunma Prefectures. Coastal Kanto regions are Chiba, Tokyo, Ibaraki and Kanagawa Prefectures. The National Capital Region as Kanto region and Yamanashi Prefecture by the Japanese national government.

The Kanto is largest economy region in the Japan. The Kanto economy is occupies above 40% of Japan's scale of economy. Kanto areas are Yamanashi, Nagano, Kanagawa, Chiba, Niigata, Tochigi, Saitama, Gunma, Ibaraki, and Tokyo metropolis. Kanto has large industries, human resources, large accumulation of excellent businesses and the world's top level scientific technology, research functions, modern manufacturing technology and specialized skills. The Kanto area for new businesses and industries is the capacity as the Japan's greatest "Seedbed".
