The Mekong River is situated on the eastern regions & flowing towards south. The transitional plains of river Mekong slowly meets up with the eastern highlands. The Kravanh Mountains and the Damrei Mountains, has been blocked by the southwestern Cambodia and encloses the land area between the Tonle Sap and the Gulf of Thailand. The highest peak of Cambodia Phnom Aural, reach up to an height of 5,949 feet (1,813 metres). The Gulf of Thailand being narrow and has been completely wooded with scanty population and it has been separated by the southwestern highlands from the central plain. The most important geographical feature has been a disaster of Green Lake. ), measures about 2,590 square kilometers (1,000 sq mi) during the dry season and extending up to 24,605 square kilometers (9,500 sq mi) during the rainy season and has been considered the wet rice cultivation and is called the heartland of Cambodia and denoted as biosphere reserve.

Besides textile industry, tourism industry being the second largest origin of hard currency. Agriculture is the main occupation of most of the people of Cambodia and their major exports were Rice, fish, timber, garments and rubber. In 1960 The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) from the rice bank of Philippines sent 760 types of rice to Cambodia.The Tourism of Cambodia helped to grow the country rapidly as in it was 219,000 in 1997 and in 2007 has reached to 2 million. As per the Economist from 2001 - 2010 the annual average of GDP was about 707% by which the Cambodia has been ranked to one of the top ten countries with the highest GDP growth. According to the per capitae in PPP terms till 2005 was $2,200, which ranked 178th (out of 233) countries. The inflation 1.7% and exports at $1.6 billion US$. China being the huge source for foreign Investments and in 2011 it has been invested around $8 billions for 360 projects and being the huge source for foreign aid making about $600 million in 2007 and $260 million in 2008. There is loss of education in the country side population of Cambodia due to corruption political instability and government discouragement towards foreign aids however there has been some important bilateral and multilateral donors and contributed in 2004 around $504 million to the country while the Asian Development Bank contributed alone $850 million in loans, grants, and technical assistance.
