Birmingham Public Schools provide child's individual education program. The city’s educational system was managed by the Birmingham City Schools System. There are number of schools in the city, approximately seven high schools, 13 middle schools, 33 elementary schools, and 9 kindergarten-eighth-grade primary schools in the Birmingham City. The City of Birmingham is a product of the Civil War era. It was founded on June 1, 1871, which is expected as the intersection of the North & South, and the Alabama & Chattanooga railroads.
