Hillcrest Overview
Hillcrest is located between Flushing and Jamaica.  Hillcrest was named after its location which is on the hills in between its surrounding areas.  Hillcrest is also the home St. John University which has a population of about 10,000 students.  The major thoroughfare in the area are located on Union Turnpike where almost all the shopping, restaurants, and commercial buildings are located.

Hillcrest Residents & Culture
Hillcrest was originally settled by Manhattan drifters who were looking for country homes, and easy access to Manhattan from Jamaica.  Today, this area is home to local suburban families and students who attend the St. John's University.

Hillcrest Residences & Rents
Hillcrest mostly consist of low rise buildings, but is mostly separate standing single family homes. General rents in this area includes studio from $700-$900, one bedroom from $850-$1050, or two bedrooms from $1200-$1350.            

Hillcrest Transportation & Commuting
Most commuting is done via the New York City Subway, which can caught in nearby Flushing or Jamaica.  Depending on where you live it is a short ride to either of these towns in Queens.
