Overview
Glendale,
Queens was named after the main developers home town
in Ohio. Glendale began to prosper when New
York City banned future cemeteries in Manhattan.
Glendale and some neighboring community became the
area which they were located, or better known as the
Cemetery Belt. Glendale began to flourish when
a developer had plans to build homes on 469 lots in
the area, with hopes that city dwellers would move
east.

Glendale was originally inhabited
by Dutch settlers, and shortly after saw influx
of German farmers. Today, Glendale is home to many
immigrants from
Eastern Europe, China, and the Dominican Republic.
