College Point Overview
College Point in the beginning was known variously as Tew's Neck, Lawrence's Neck and Strattonport.  College Point was named after St. Paul's School, which was established for training ministers.  Although the school lasted only five years, the name College Point remained.  College Point was once solely an industrial area and now has migrated to a residential suburb with small unique stores lining College Point Boulevard.  There is still trace of industry here on  the 578-acre College Point Industrial Park, which is home to offices, light industry, and a major retail development.  College Point is an nice suburb to reside in, but it can be rather difficult to commute to the Manhattan.

College Point Residents & Culture
College Point was mostly populated with Dutch and English immigrants, more recently it has seen a large influx if immigrants from all over the globe as it provides a serine setting and a small town feel.

College Point Residences & Rent
Most of the area's residences were constructed in the late 1800s.  There are mainly old Victorians, and single and multi-family homes.  General rents range for studio from $600-$800, one bedroom from $800-$1050, two bedrooms from $1100-$1400, and three plus bedrooms from $1450-$1800.

College Point Transportation & Commuting
Commuting from College Point can be a difficult task if you do not have a car.  Most commuters get to the train stations in nearby Flushing.  In Flushing you can get the New York City subway's  "7" train. Once you are at the station you can be in Midtown in 20 minutes and Downtown in 30 minutes.
