Woodhaven Overview
Woodhaven was settled in 1835 by John R. Pitkin and originally named
Woodville. A few years later Woodville was changed to Woodhaven to avoid confusion with
another Woodville in upstate New York. Woodhaven has the small town feel and
an old rustic look, as most of the building here were built in the late 1800's. Some of these old houses today are preserved historic landmarks. All
shopping and commerce is located on Woodhaven Boulevard and Jamaica and
Atlantic avenues.
