Hollis Overview
Hollis located adjacent to Jamaica, and includes the areas of Hollis, Hollis Hills and Holliswood.
Holliswood is much like Jamaica Estates in
makeup and known for having an "o" in every street name.  Hollis Hills is filled with suburban developments with a middle class feel and nice landscape on all its town borders.  Hollis itself is a vast area filled with all types of housing structures and commercial buildings.  Hollis was given its name after the original developer of the area who named it after his home town in New Hampshire.  Hollis is famous for being the home to some famous people, most notably Secretary of State Colin Powell, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, and all three members of the popular rock artist group RUN-DMC.  The main shopping and commercial districts in Hollis are located on Hillside Ave and Jamaica Ave.

Hollis Residents & Culture
Hollis was originally settled by Dutch colonist.  Later on after World War II the area boomed and many immigrants from all nations arrived here to reside in Hollis.  Today, this area is multi-cultural diverse area with strong middle class family values.

Hollis Residences & Rents
Hollis mostly consist of row houses, small to medium sized apartment buildings, and a few large separate standing homes.  General rents in this area includes studio from $650-$800, one bedrooms from $750-$950, and two bedrooms from $1000-$1350.            

Hollis Transportation & Commuting
Most commuting is done via the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) which can picked up at 93rd Street and Woodhull Avenue.
