Rents are high here because the residential ambiance of the Upper East Side is as close as one can get to living in a suburb inside of Manhattan. The Upper East Side is one of the cleanest, wealthiest and quietest areas of Manhattan. Beekman Place,  Sutton Place and Lennox Hill are prime examples of this pristine culture.  Carnegie Hill and Yorkville, the northern areas of the Upper East Side offer a moderated version of the culture at a more affordable price.

Apartment selections never run dry here and neither will the enjoyment of Central Park or the East River waterfront park.  The current market has made living in the center and north parts of the Upper East Side most affordable. As one gets closer to Central Park or  Midtown rents rise significantly.  If saving money is a concern, consider living in the middle, near the stores and restaurants.
