East Harlem
Description
Spanish Harlem also known as El Barrio or East Harlem is an underestimated New York neighborhood that has been gradually taking rise among the ranks. East Harlem's proximity to Central Park and the FDR is one reason for the popularity of this vibrant community. The high rents of the Upper East Side is another. Many Upper East Siders are moving further north into Spanish Harlem to find cheaper rents. With stores and restaurants that reflect the Hispanic backgrounds of the area’s residents, Spanish Harlem is full of spice. As with all East Side areas, commuting to anywhere on the East Side of Manhattan is a piece of cake - commuting to the West Side gets slightly more difficult and is best done via the cross-town bus. Rents are moderate but rise the further South you go towards the Upper East Side. |
