The Kanto region is a geophysical area of Honshu .The Kanto was one of the largest island of Japan. The term Kanto means 'east of the barrier'. The Kanto region has seven prefectures on the Kanto Plain they are Ibaraki, Tokyo, Tochigi, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama. The rest of Kanto land has mountains and hills. Kanto have largest universities, largest industrial zone, cultural institutions and having grate population. Kanto was military seat of power in the historic times. Kanto has great culture and entertainment. The Kanto is a universal variety of modern and traditional arts. Kanto have most popular tourist destinations they are Asakusa and Ginza. Kanto main crop is rice. The Kanto region is highly developed industrialized and urbanized part of Japan. The Kanto region and its surrounding peoples are having standard Japanese culture.

Based on the economics and geography some times divide the boundaries, Inland Kanto and Coastal Kanto. Inland Kanto regions are Saitama, Tochigi and Gunma Prefectures. Coastal Kanto regions are Chiba, Tokyo, Ibaraki and Kanagawa Prefectures. The National Capital Region as Kanto region and Yamanashi Prefecture by the Japanese national government.
